I have tried every way I can think of to add a link to a PDF on one of our wiki pages. I can create links to other wiki pages, but not to outside web address or pdf's. I thought I would be able to do this. Am I missing something?
If you are on Moodle 2 then in the text editor, click the link icon, then next the URL field click the icon on the right. It will take you to the file picker - upload and make a link to your pdf there.
I have tried both suggestions with no success. The pdf appears in the Course files. i have tried with the eye open and closed. When I attempt to create the link within the wiki, the link word changes color while still in edit as though it has linked, but once I save and return to the mainpage. The link is no longer colored or clickable. When I mouse-over the target word, it changes color but is not clickable.
This is the address format that I use when I create & upload the file to the the Course Files and then use the Link button on the editor:
http://website.org/moodle/file.php/6/Nature_Scavenger_Hunt/Search_List.pdf
When I use the work around, this is what the code looks like within the wiki:
<a href="http://website.org/moodle/file.php/6/Nature_Scavenger_Hunt/Search_List.pdf">Nature Scavenger List</a>
This is the way I have had to list it in the HTML editor to make it work, BUT for some reason, over time, the link disappears!
"Please download the [Nature Scavenger List|http://website.org/moodle/file.php/6/Nature_Scavenger_Hunt/Search_List.pdf] to continue."
I visited a page I created last month with a pdf attachment that no one had visited in two weeks. The link was broken. The students could not edit page and I surely didn't.
Thanks for your help!
Should that not read:
