batch set-up quiz categories and sub-categories

batch set-up quiz categories and sub-categories

I'm setting up 12 quizzes with 4 questions in each and each question has 3 variants.

I need to create one category for each of 12 quizzes and also one sub-category for each of 4 questions that go into each quiz.

That makes a total of 60 categories!

The manual way of setting this up is really labour intensive and time consuming.

Is there any faster/easier solution or workaround?

Thanks

Dave

You may be able to do this using question import/export. Try exporting a single question in a category as Moodle XML. Then use copy-and-paste to make a file that defines 60 categories, and then import it.

That is the general idea anyway. You will need to experiment to work out the details.

Yep. Get familiar with the XML import process.  You can do this easily and very quickly.

Let me know if you need further guidance and I'll be happy to help.

Good luck,

Thanks a lot, guys.

I just did a trial run and it works perfectly.

I'm glad I asked about this. It's a huge saving in time and energy.
