I work for a very large organisation. We have been trialling an instance of Moodle on a server which is external to our organisational structure. We are using an external server because of security protocols within our organisation. I need to know how many users can simulataneously (concurrently) be logged into the same course. I have looked through the documentation but I could not find clear guidelines about this. It has become important because I have been told that it is between 50 and 100 but I believe this is a limitation set by a shared server rather than Moodle. Can anyone set any light on this.

The general rule of thumb is that Moodle can support 50 concurrent users for every 1GB of RAM, but this will vary depending on your specific hardware and software combination.
