Hi George,

>> but the video exceeds the 2mb limit set in our Moodle 1.9.12

I just noticed this comment you made.  Did you mean 2mb or 2gb?  My site is set at a 500mb limit for file uploading. Why is yours set at 2mb?  It is a setting that you or your administrator can change.

Although we use Youtube, we could have loaded all 240 videos/semester into our school Moodle site.  The problem is not the upload limit, the problem is rather:

  1. Moodle does not stream video, like Youtube/Vimeo or a local add-on server such as Red5, Wowza or Flash Media Server.  So you have to wait one or two minutes for a large video file to completely load before viewing it.
  2. Also, Moodle is picky about some video formats, while Youtube will take anything. We use a variety of digital cameras, iPhones, iPads to record videos, so we like the convenience and hassle-free uploading of Youtube.
