Editing the roles in "Defining Roles" area

Hi all,

I've tried to make up a new role for somene who almost has adminnistrator access but with a few less options. I've nearly got the role how I need it but i'm having some slight problems with allowing that role to enroll learners onto courses. When you click "assign roles" on the course to say, add a learner onto that course, it just takes you back to the home screen as if you don't have permissions.

I would be grateful if anyone could help me with the role problem!

Thanks,

Matt

Does this admin have editing rights in the course?

Also, which version are you using?

Hmm, not sure. I was hoping that the role didn't have to be "enrolled" on the course as such, how would i set it so that they can have editing rights on the course?

 Version 1.9.8

Sorry!

Thanks,

Matt

Is this a system-wide role? That puts the person in every course without enrolling. Be sure to close the eye so the students won't see the person.

I've never seen the problem you describe, Matt. It's a shame you aren't doing this in 2.0 or 2.1 because they have built in permissions testing.

We here are in 1.9.4, so farther from Nirvana than you tongueout

A workaround might be to give the almost-admin the power to upload a csv file, thereby enrolling en masse.
