Is there anything on the teacher end that needs to be done to close a Moodle course or is that done administratively?
If you have been given rights as the teacher, you can go to the settings and edit the settings and under availability: choose Not available for students. that way the course is hidden from students but not from the teacher. The course will show as "grayed" out.
