Changing wwwroot aint reflecting in the resources url

Dear moodlers,

This is very strange problem i ran into,

Moodle installation runs in local system with ip (192.168.3.40)

After uploading all resources and forming courses i changed wwwroot to an external ip, and when tried to access the resource(.swf file) it opens and tries to redirect to the older local ip ! !

because it cannnot access the file using the local ip it redirects to home page again.

Any ideas ?

If you change wwwroot, then you need to use the admin/replace.php script. More information on Moodle migration.

Thanks for replying. Is going to admin/replace.php a temporary solution ?

Whats the necessity for the db to store the host name/address/ip ! ?

If its for caching purposes cant we clear cache button or something ?
