does anyone know if it's possible in Moodle 2 to create a meta course in which the participants are taken from another meta course? At our university we have departments with rather complex groups of students. We would like to set up meta courses with sets of participants and then use this set for further courses.
I tried it, but it didn't seem to work.

Hi Gus,
It might be better to use the new Cohort functionality in Moodle 2.0+. What you might want to do is setup a site wide Cohort and add your participants to this. Then add the cohort to each of the courses you want them to be enrolled on.
The cohort list should sync automatically these users to the appropriate courses

Thanks for the tip. I think that did the trick. As a test I set up two cohort lists with two different sets of participants. I then set up a course (course A) and added these cohorts as users. I then can "duplicate" this combination of users by setting up a new cours (course B) as a meta course that grabs its participants from course A. This way we can basically set up combined participant groups that can be plugged into when teachers set up their courses.
