> I have a course with 9 topics/weeks. I would like to copy some of these topics (3) to another site. I've done a backup of the original moodle site but the backup is 75mb in size.
Is it a course you want to transfer or do you want to shift (http://docs.moodle.org/en/Moodle_migration
) a whole site?
> Even if I untick everything but 1 topic, the backup is still 75mb.
Did you check why? Did you go through the files in that course? Is it possible that it has collected all the course backups sofar?

If you couldn't reduce the size of the backup, you need to increase the file upload
> Perhaps the 75mb would be okay if I could ftp it to my other server and then restore. But where would I ftp it to?
You can upload into any course and during restore say you need a new course.
