We have a large Moodle support glossary which has embedded images, and attached files. While the glossary contains only text (and no attachments or embedded media) I can export it as XML and do bulk edits in the XML but as soon as I attach files it appears that I can't edit the glossary outside of Moodle.
Does anyone know of a way that I can edit the glossary in an XML format and still maintan the links to the attached files or embedded media? Thus far I have tried editing the BACKUP file and then using RESTORE but the results have not been sucessful.
The background is that the glossary is based on the excellent Moodle FAQ from the University of Bath at http://moodle.bath.ac.uk/faq/ They have made it available to others as an Open Educational Resource http://andyramsden.wordpress.com/2010/10/14/oer-faq-database/
Thus far I have massaged their XML file to get it into a format that the Moodle glossary will read. Editing the XML is useful as bulk changes can be made throughout the file but it appears that as soon as we attach files to the glossary entries or embeded media we are forced to edit the files only in the Moodle Glossary interface.
We will be talking about our progress at the upcoming Australian MoodleMoot. http://moodlemoot.org.au/
