Hi to all,

I have Moodle 2.0.2 installed on Debian 6.0 server.

It's a fresh install and empty.

But actually i changed my mind and want to install moodle 1.9.

What is the easiest way to do that.

If it is possible please give me step by step instructions.

Hayk

You are talking of a new 1.9 installation, I guess.

For Debian there is one http://docs.moodle.org/en/Debian_GNU/Linux_installation

I'm not sure of the version of PHP in Debian 6, 5.3 is OK for Moodle 1.9, in case you encounter problems.

I did try 2.0 and went back to 1.9, latest build.  Way too many bugs in 2.0 yet.

My suggestion is that you take your company IT director out to lunch and convince him to help you with the Moodle install. That's the best money I ever spent.

During a lunch, yes. Specially if the arguments were served with hot lubricants.

If the IT director understands IT and he is in his seat, then I won't feel that comfortable, assuming 'fcourse that we both are sober.

Hi Visvanath,

I did install Moodle 2.0.2 and configured it on Debian. Just have a question.

If i delete the Moodle 2.0.2 with all of it's components. Will the Moolde database, that i have created on MySQl be deleted?

And then when install Moodle 1.9, will just i have to crate the Moolde database and Moodle user on MySQl ?

Like shown here

# mysql -u root -p
> CREATE DATABASE moodle DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci;
> GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON moodle.* TO moodleuser@localhost IDENTIFIED BY 'NewMoodleDatabasePassword';
> GRANT SELECT,LOCK TABLES on moodle.* TO moodlebackup@localhost IDENTIFIED BY 'MoodleBackupPassword';
> FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
> QUIT

Please advise.

Hayk.
