i'd like to use the quizz feature or any other more suited feature in order to conduct an online survey. ie there are no right or wrong answers. mainly i'd like people to rate statements.
is this possible??

It is possible with a quiz, just set the grade option to no grade. However the analysis of the results is not very convenient. You would be better served by the questionnaire module that you can download from the modules download page.

As Gustav stated, the questionnaire module is your best bet for this. It is a bit tricky (but works very well). I am using it for our end of term student feedback. Please let me know if you need any help with it.
