My HotPots are presently configured in such a way that students must either back-button or click a bookmarked page to get back to our course's homepage after completing their Hot Potatoes. How can I configure them so they automatically return when finished, or even better place our homepage in the Index?........Thanks
Have you tried presenting your HotPots through QuizPort? Assuming you're using Moodle 1.9, it gives you much more control not only over what students do when they finish a set of HotPot exercises, but over how they work through them.
Thank you Glenys.....I installed QuizPort. Can you give me a brief outline of steps to include several HotPots, and then configure so a user returns to our course homepage when completed? Thank you....
There's a QuizPort tutorial which explains most things: Section 8 deals with postconditions. If anything's not clear, come back and ask again here.
Have fun with it!
as Glenys says, the tutorial should give you a good understanding of how QuizPort works.
For your purposes, be sure that when adding a new QuizPort you insert the folder path in the source file box, and you set "Add quiz chain" to "Yes". That will add all the quizzes in the folder.
If you want to show only one quiz at a time, in a linear sequence, then see section 4 of the tutorial for example on how to do that.
Thank you both for your help.....I'm still having trouble getting the folder as a unit into my configuration. I uploaded it, it's in the Moodle course files, but there is no "Choose" option for the folder....only a "Rename" option. If I double-click the folder, then I get the individual file/quizzes, but I like the Unit option.....How can I do that?
This worked great......thank you both so much. It's appreciated.
Ooops....hit a snag. The workflow appears to work fine. However, when I checked the work I'd done in "Activity Report" it showed I was still in progress and had only gotten 67% of the quiz questions correct.....although I had actually completed the entire unit with all of them correct.....Any suggestions?
Hmm.....I suspect that although you think you have fininshed and completed the unit.....QuizPort doesn't. If you look at the report for that QuizPort activity you can find out exactly what QuizPort thinks you have completed.....and what it thinks is merely abandoned. You can get to the QuizPort report from the QuizPort index page.....and you can get to the QuizPort index from the "Activities" block.....which you may have to enable if it does not already show on your course page.....Any clearer?
If the confusion continues, please make a screenshot of the relevant part of your "Complete report", and attach it to your next post to this forum.
Gordon....here is a screen shot showing how the Progress report says 67% (for both units actually), but the details reveal the activity was completed:
Oh boy, that changed the whole view! I had continued to include the automatically generated Index file, which I now realize isn't necessary with QuizPort. When I deleted it.. presto!!.....Thanks Gordon, you're a gem.
