Webwork module uploaded to CVS

I've just uploaded the webwork module into the contrib/webwork directory in the CVS. Here's the README file:

This directory contains a Moodle module and a collection of Perl scripts which provide an interface between Moodle and WeBWorK.

WeBWorK is a symbolic math. problem generating/grading software platform developed by Mike Gage and Arnie Pizer of the University of Rochester Mathematics Department. WeBWorK is written in Perl and runs under a variety of Unix variants, including Linux, BSD, Solaris and Mac OS X. WeBWorK is open source software which is free for use by educational institutions. It can be obtained from http://webhost.math.rochester.edu/downloadwebwork/ (registration is required). Further information about WeBWorK can be obtained at: http://webwork.math.rochester.edu/docs/docs/

This software enables you to link from Moodle to a WeBWorK problem set assignment without requiring students to reauthenticate themselves into WeBWorK. At the end of the WeBWorK session, the students' scores on the assignment are imported back into Moodle.

The webwork module and the interface scripts were written by Zbigniew Fiedorowicz and Steve Zeidner of the Department of Mathematics, The Ohio State University. They are available for use under the Gnu General Public License (GPL). While this software has been used in a number of classes at Ohio State without any significant problems, we give no warranty, express or implied, about the its quality or suitability for use.

I've updated the WeBWorK module in the CVS to be compatible with Moodle 1.1 and WeBWorK 1.9, and enabled backup/restore for it. Thanks to Eloy Lafuente for helping me out with this.

Hi, Zig!

I've added your WeBWorK module to the module download page which gets rebuilt from CVS automatically.

I downloaded from CVS and can't find webwork module.

I followed theCVS instructiosn here:

http://moodle.org/mod/resource/view.php?id=8

I'd like to inspect webwork because I'd like to do a similar extension.

Where can I find the code for this module?

Thanks

I've uploaded an update to the WeBWorK module in the CVS today.  The new feature implemented is a dynamic link to the WeBWorK administration page corresponding to your Moodle course.  See the picture below.  It should be also be available in a day or two from the following page: http://moodle.org/download/modules/

That thread dates from 2003 years ago so many things will have changed since then.

Hi,

The moodle-webwork bridge that Zbig uploaded 13 years ago worked only with moodle1.9x. There are new versions which have been created over the last few years which work with moodle 2.x and moodle3.

There are basically two ways to connect webwork and moodle. The first and most stable method is to connect webwork as an assignment inside moodle. Students click on the "wwassignment" icon and are automatically signed in to a webwork site to do their homework. Their homework grades are then transferred back to the moodle gradebook.
The install instructions for this option, which closely parallels the capabilities of Zbig's post are at https://github.com/openwebwork/wwassignment.

It is also possible to connect webwork to moodle as a webwork question type which appears in a moodle quiz. In this method the student never sees the webwork site although the instructor will want access to the webwork site to prepare sets of homework questions.

This is relatively new, still has some rough edges but it described at
http://michaelgage.blogspot.com/2015/06/using-webwork-questions-in-moodle.html
which shows how to install webwork questions within moodle quizzes (somewhat like STACK).
It contains links to earlier posts and to sites where you can view both the "question bridge" and the "assignment bridge" in action. The post also appears at https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=315504
