I'm trying to give Binarius a fixed width. I've modified the width and max-width properties in numerous css classes, including #wrapper and #page, but nothing works. Can someone tell me where I should make the change?

Have you turned on designer mode or cleared the theme cache? Without doing this you will not see the changes even if they are made in the correct place.
adjusting the width in #page in the pagelayout.css works on my local host. But as this is currently set to 100% but the right and left columns are set to 250px, you may need to be careful with any changes made to ensure the layout still works correctly.
