Perhaps this has been posted elsewhere, but I have not been able to find it.
I want to make a username or screen name the identifier for a student and keep the real first and last names private or hidden from students (except themselves).
Because of how much the first and last name are used, I thought of using those fields instead of trying to make something else. Here are my thoughts:
- Replace the firstname label in the language files with screen name or something like that.
- Replace the lastname label in the language files with Full name.
- Hide the last name from normal view for students by using a hack in the config.php (I saw a solution out there somewhere for this).
What are your thoughts about this? Is there something easier? Perhaps a plugin?
