Quite a few of our students were getting kicked out of their quizzes today. The students concluded that if they hit save and continue they got kicked out..if they just hit 'next' then they did not. Anyone experience anything like this before?
By kicked out, they are indicating the page is taking for ever to move to the next one, and/or they are getting server timed out.
Can you supply the version of Moodle, the webserver/operating system, browser being used, typical number of questions in a quiz and amount of time before a user is kicked out. Have you actually seen this happen to someone. Does it show up as happening in the logs?
Browser Firefox MOODLE 1.9 OS-XP # of questions in the test 50. It happened to about 7 of our students during one test (we test them in a testing lab, our computers). I did not check the logs. I will do that.
On a rare occassion I have seen this and it always ended up being a srever issue. Check to see if other RAM heavy processes were running at that time that might explain why your students didn't have enough resources from your server. If you cannot find a reason there wasn't enough RAM, assume that another request of the server was taking too much RAM if you share it with something besides your own Moodle or assume that some script may have hung up. A server reset will fix a hanging script. If you are hosted, just ask the host to do a server reset.
We have been getting server time outs on other occassions. We have a hosted site and our vendor can not figure out why we are having server time outs. We have had them sporadically and consistently for the last 3 or 4 months. This is the first time that students indicated that if they clicked on SAVE and continue that it happened...but the students also discovered if they choose to hit just CONTINUE then they would not get kicked out.
