Guys very silly detail that wasmissed and i hope someone else wont do this, but when creating the reneder file make sure its name is renderers.php and NOT renderer.php. This is why it wasnt working for me. So Tim thanks for the advice, feeling quite silly right now, I can venture onward after learning a very valuable lesson of paying attention to details!!
