Installation Problem

Installation Problem

Hello,

Am trying to upgrade moodle. Created old directory moodle-old. And new directory moodle. Put install into new folder. Redid config.php file. Now all I get is a blank page. http://dpaweb.hss.state.ak.us/training/moodle/admin/

However if I go to:

http://dpaweb.hss.state.ak.us/training/moodle-old/admin/

I can see where it is trying to upgrade my moodle system.

Help?

my directory path is:

$CFG->dirroot   = "/home/dpaweb/training/moodle";

This worked last time - is there any reason why it will not work with the newer version?

I reinstalled the new version -- and lost everything. We were still in the testing phase though. But it would be nice to get the original upgraded and recover our work.

Here's what I did to upgrade:

Backed up everything data file, database, moodle, as per the instructions. Renamed the folder "moodle" to "moodle-old". Unzipped the install to "moodle", uploaded it to the web, redid the paths in my config file same as in the older version just with '' instead of using "". Uploaded config file. Then tried to access my admin folder: http://dpaweb.hss.state.ak.us/training/moodle/admin/index.php or http://dpaweb.hss.state.ak.us/training/moodle/admin/ the page was blank.

My server administrator said $CFG->dirroot ="/home/dpaweb/training/moodle"; was my absolute directory path. It's the same as what we used before and worked fine.

I checked to see if http://dpaweb.hss.state.ak.us/training/moodle-old/admin/index.php was working and it went through a series of upgrades which do not work afterwards because there are things trying to point to "moodle" and "moodle-old".

Can someone see what I did wrong. I should be able to recover all of the older version to try again.

Thank you!
