Hi Stuart,

the format of the shown date is defined in the used language of the current user who is seeing the date.
The identifier you have to define is "strftimedaydatetime". You can find this on "Site administration->Language->Language customization (Moodle 2) or
"Site administration->Language->Language editing (Moodle 1.9)
