Strange, I am using Firefox 1.0 on windows XP and the clocks seem to work.(OTOH, I think having more than one clock should be forbidden)
on topic: overlib (the popup library which is included with Moodle) has some code to display text in the statusbar as well, though I still think the statusbar shouldn't be used by websites to show content.
