Using Moodle 2.0.1, is there a way to use a shared, editable Google Doc? In other words, we have a "worksheet" type document that we want to have individual groups work on. Is there a way to pass from Moodle to that document, have students edit it, either synchronously or asynchronously, and then save their work, and return it to Google Docs.
You should be able to do this with any Moodle version if you Link to that document. Create a GoogleDoc, set up its Sharing Settings:
- Choose "Anyone with the link" under Visibility options
- Check "Allow anyone to edit (no sign-in required)" - up to you
Copy the link provided in that pop-up. It should be very long one and impossible to guess.
Return to your Moodle course and add that link as Add a resource > Link to a file or website (1.9) ; or Add a resource > URL (2.0)
That is what we are doing right now. I was attracted to the 2.0 Repository concept linking to Google Docs, hoping that we could edit in Moodle. After reading some of the other posts on Repositories, I understand why it does not work now.
Thank you for your feedback.
Elana - (and Sue!).
I am having an issue with trying to link a sharable Google document within a Wiki in Moodle (1.9). I enter my text, highlight it as normal, then add the link, but instead of looking like this
How to do - Making Quizzes in Moodle, it looks like this
and is not linked to the document.
Wiki has its own engine behind the scenes which can come into collision with the text editor.
I would recommend to post your links with the Wiki Markup language, and not with using the WYSIWYG text editor. (click on the build-in help file in the wiki, if you are not sure on how to use the markup language)
The URL should look like this in editing mode:
