I am conisdering using Moodle for an online educational program. This program is intended to allow students to take courses without the help of teachers. The main idea is that the students will read one document, take a quiz and if they pass, they move to the next document.
The idea is that initially all documents, except the first one, are deactivated (i.e. student can not download them). Then when the student passes the quiz of the first document, she/he can access the second one and so on.
Can this be done using Moodle? If not, is there an add-on or another system that can do this task?
I know that WebCT can do it - you can selectively release a content module or a single page to students who have received a given grade for a given quiz. But personally I believe you will need many more reasons to justify giving up Moodle in favour of WebCT
I also make heavy use of this feature in WebCT but would like to hide a topic until a quiz in the previous topic has been 'passed'.
This was introduced to prevent students 'skim studying' without understanding the work covered.
Have you found a solution to your problem. I am looking for the same solution.
I have not found an opensource system with this feature. I was told that the developers at Ilias are currently working on this feature. So hopefully, it should be available soon.
If you had any success, please let me know.
