I am creating a Filemaker database to manage questions which will get imported into the Moodle 1.9 database. I am using the the Moodle documentation as well as questions exported from Moodle to ensure the right XML formatting.
My question is about the xml code that relates to the question number as shown here:
<-- question: 146674 -->
This shows up on the XML in my exported questions which I am consulting for their format. I assume that it is a unique primary number key generated by Moodle in the question database. I don't expect to import and export from the Moodle database but merely go from my database into the Moodle database.
My questions are:
1. Can I simply generate a question number in my filemaker database and have Moodle accept and create it even if it doesn't exist yet? Or will either get written over or generate an error?
2. If Moodle will accept it, is the number always six digits?
3. If it is six digits, is there a range of numbers that reserve for myself having Filemaker generate them in order that I can be confident don't or won't likely be generated in Moodle question database with under 10000 questions likely to be generated using the question editor in Moodle or having been imported from other sources.
I was thinking of using, for example, the range of 900000 to 999999 with my first question starting at 900000.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
