Is This Module Used in Software Training?

Hi...I am new to Moodle and trying to find my way around.

We are a software company and have a few modules created in Moodle. Basically we made videos of someone using our software and show where to point and click. We also have voice in the videos.

I was wondering how we can make the training more interactive. I would like to use the above video to SHOW someone how to navagate our software and then allow the student to DO what they were shown. Most software training is like a tutorial of all SHOW and no DO. What do I need to get students to actually use the software inside of Moodle?

Am I in the correct place? Does anyone know where I can view a video or a Moodle example of something like this?

Thanks...Doug

Hi Douglas,

I've used Hot Potatoes to make quite a few exercises for learning to use Moodle.
These are in French but I'm sure you'll get the idea : Exercices Hot Potatoes/QuizPort : La page principale d'un cours Moodle

And here's one based on a video: Introduction à Moodle.

But I'm sure you can go much further than this is getting students to really do things.

Cheers,

Glenys

HI Doug,

as Glenys says, you can certainly make tutorials using Hot Potatoes exercises to show and then check understanding.

If you are prepared to pay a bit of money, Adobe Captivate is a useful tool for creating screencasts (video of screen activity), and then incorporating those into the kind of interactive activity you are talking about, where students have to actually click what they are supposed to click on the screen, and the software checks they clicked the right thing.
