Installation in 1.6?

Installation in 1.6?

I know, why would I ever want to use Moodle 1.6 these days?

Unfortunately, the program I'm working for is still on 1.6 and I can't change that. However, I have an activity for which the Book Module would be perfect. Is there any way to get a download of this module for 1.6? If not, do I have any other options for getting this module into our 1.6 program?

Well for more information about downloading and installing the Moodle Book Module you can go here:

http://docs.moodle.org/en/Installing_contributed_modules_or_plugins

...and according to the ChangeLog for Moodle Book as of...

== 1.3alpha - 2006/03/12 ======================================================
* compatible with 1.6dev only, use previous version for 1.5.x
* unicode upgrade supported - not much tested
* backup fixes - from Penny Leach, thanks!
* all languages converted to utf-8
* moved to contrib/book_16 directory
* added proper content encoding conversion during import

...and here is the link to download the book module...

http://docs.moodle.org/en/Book_module

One option you may want to consider is installing a second version of Moodle at least version 1.9.  You would need to backup your SQL from your current Moodle 1.6 site and attempt an import the SQL data into Moodle 1.9.

...or you could copy your Moodle 1.6 SQL and clone the directory structure.  Then you could attempt an upgrade to Moodle 1.6 to 1.9, in my experience this type of upgrade or add-on may take a bit of trail and error.

Hope this helps,

Kevin
