At the OU, we have some quizzes where we only tell the students their grade after the grades been checked and approved by somebody. We do this by hiding the column in the gradebook (and turning off the quiz review options, scores) until the scores have been approved. The gradebook column is unhidden, and the quiz reivew options are changed, once the grades have been approved.

What we would like to happen instead is that before the scores are approved, this column is visible in the gradebook, but displays the date the student submitted their quiz, rather than the actual grade. I think we can achieve that by adding a new Grade display type of "Date submitted" (which displays the time stored in the grade_grades.timecreated database column, formatted nicely). What do people think about this?

At the same time, we would like to break the link that automatically set the the gradebook column for the quiz to be hidden, hidden until, or visible, depending on the quiz review options, when you edit the quiz settings. Again, would people be in favour of that?

Naturally, if people are happy with these proposed changes, we (the OU development team) would implement them.
