I'm sorry for posting a similar question recently on other forums but have not received a helpful answer so far. Perhaps this is the correct forum for my question and I haven't phrased my question correctly. --
I recently made a new installation of Moodle 2.1, having used version 1.10 previously. All is well except that when I allow guest access to a course "with a key", and try to login as guest, Moodle 2 no longer allows one to 'Enrol" - just the option of entering a key. This may not seem a big change BUT:
My big problem here is that this leads to a https page (Unlike Moddle 1). This contains (depending on the browser used, IE, Safari, Firefox) a security warning that there is an "invalid security certificate". It is possible for users to ignore this and continue. However this may deter guest users completely. So Please, can anybody tell me is this a new "security" feature in Mooodle 2 that cannot be changed. I really need to know as I have not seen anything in DOCs or Forums warning about this change. Has anybody else tried this and found the same problem?
If this can't be changed in Moodle 2, then there should be as warning that one needs to purchase an SSL certificate to run Moodle 2 with guest login + key.
I really need help with this problem as it's driving me mad.
