looks like I forgot sth. in the guides. You'll need to add either

?mode=0 (edu-sharing search) or
-
?mode=1 (edu-sharing workspace)
I've updated the install guides. You should be able to do what you are trying to achieve. We are using mod_proxy and mod_proxy_ajp and put the apache in front of the tomcat (this sounds weird in english but i think you'll get the idea).
