Managing Files in Course Repositories

Managing Files in Course Repositories

I am on Moodle 2.0.

I have setup a course repository in the file system. I put the folder in the /var/moodledata/repository/ directory, per instructions.  I put a few files in it from the server end.  I can get to those in the course repository.  So, the next question I have is:

  • Can a teacher edit this from the web browser?
  • I think they can add files to it?
  • How can they delete files? If they have a resource file in the repository, such as a word document for an assignment template, can they change that?  It appears that they have to re-upload another copy with a new name.  This is problematic, as it messes up the link in the course itself.
  • Finally, if the files in the repository are pictures, is there a way for students to browse and see previews/thumbnails?  I have made a symlink in the repositories to the openclipart folder on my ubuntu server.  Very cool idea.

I'm sure there is a better way that I am missing.
