I use moodle 2.0 weekly on a Linux server. After storing the first course I get the error message "paging_bar requires a perpage value", if I try to get a list of this section. The message says, that this is an error, which only a programmer can solve. Is this error known? Is there a bugfix or a workaround?

I've had a similar problem and have made a small change to the Front Page settings which appears to have solved the issue.
My Courses per page setting was 0 - I have now changed to the default of 20 and all seems OK.

As Alex suggested to set the courses per page to some what higher. Try doing it from Administration > Site administration > Appearance > Courses.
For temporary fix in Moodle 5.1.x until Moodle fixes this issue, You can try to put this $CFG->coursesperpage=200; in config.php file.
