Hello everyone

I have just started using Moodle after taking it over from a previous manager.  We have forums set up for our courses, and several have groups within.  When we post to a specific group, everyone in the course is emailed rather than just the group participants.  Is there a way to get just the group participants to be emailed?  The post is showing in the group and all participants areas of the forum.  The forums are forced subscription and our Moodle version is 1.9.7.
