We are using Moodle in a setting where students are either marked as satisfactory or not satisfactory. The issue is that as soon as we set one task as 'satisfactory', the course total changes to satisfactory even though it should not be, as they have only completed part of it!
We can't figure out how to change this - HELP PLEASE! We are using Moodle 1.9.7.

Thanks I have put them below - in the version we are using there is either the categories or the items page.
On "Categories and items" try unchecking "Aggregate only non-empty grades".

Thanks, we did try that and it didn't make a difference.
However we've been playing around with 'weighted grades' and have had some success with that.
Any other ideas?
Have you tried using a different aggregation method?
Assuming a version of 1.95 or greater, Andrew was wanting to see the "Categories and items" page from the course gradebook (tab or dropdown). That usually tells a more complete story.
