Just posting here to get some core team eyeballs on a little bug I reported and patched in July related to course requests.
The course requests button only works if it's placed in Category==1 (it inadvertedly does a permission check instead of looking up the correct config setting)
It's reported http://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-23425 and a patch is attached there or is at http://github.com/une/moodle/commit/109b85214a5a7c2eb622dc35bfb7f5a41a638f97
