Why No "Course End Date" Setting?

Why No "Course End Date" Setting?

I've been scouring the site to try to find the logic behind the absence of a "Course End Date" setting. It seems like such an obvious field to have, yet it's not there.

I would like to see a course end date so that we can have a way of identifying courses that should be closed, but are not, and we can get an accurate count of our active courses.

I know that you *could* possibly use the enrolment end date. However, my understanding of this field is that it's purpose is as an enrolment cut-off date and not a course end date. The two dates are not necessarily (in fact, usually aren't) the same.

So, does anyone know why in the world there's no course end date?

I would be interested in this as well. We ended up implementing a "course end date" field and database flag, but I'm uncomfortable modifying core Moodle code.

Hi Richard

Can you give some insights into how you added the "course end date" to the system. We need this capability as well.

I see there's still no course end date in Moodle 2.x.

I really wish someone could explain why.
