Please vote for MDL-24405. The so called "branch table" in a Lesson Activity is really a content page. I would like Moodle to change the name, sooner than later. I suggest administrators change the name in their language packs
The term "branch table" is not something most teachers intuitively understand in the context of their classroom or their training. They probably know a wood table, a periodic table or perhaps a table made up of columns and rows. They probably could tell you the difference between a question page and content page without knowing anything about Moodle and be generally correct. Ask them to tell you the difference between a branch table page and a question page and they will likely be clueless.
In my opinion, branch tables refer to a feature of all pages that are visible to students in a Lesson. This could be a developers term for the area where answers/descriptions and the place to record the student's choice is located on the page. The branching feature of the Lesson activity is equally as true from a question page as it is from a so called "branch table" page. Using a developers term to describe a teaching concept is a bad practice.
Anyway, I feel strongly about this. I just notice some buttons in 2.0 to save and add a lesson page. The branch table add page said "add a question page". I suggested that both question and branch table pages should merely say "add this page". Neither is a special case, they are both pages
Best to all. Chris
yes yes yes yes!!
Good thinking, Chris. This small terminology change will contribute to a better understanding of how the rather convoluted Lesson module works.
