To virtualize or not?

To virtualize or not?

We are just getting started with Moodle.  We have a small pilot project which we hope will lead to a campus-wide installation (less than 5000 users).

We can virtualize our installation fairly quickly/inexpensively, but we are wondering if there are any concerns running Moodle in this environment?  Should we invest in a separate server?

I did see other forum discussions where very large installations were being done in a virtual environment.  Any advice from the pros would be helpful.

Could you mention the threads?

The pros have spoken about the cons in the past http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=145091 wink

But the choice not something which you can't change later. If the need arises, migrating a Moodle installation is simple task.
