I added attendance activity module but it does not appear in activity pull down menu from which teacher can add an activity.
Hi Stuti, did it install properly?
Could you possibly let me know from where to install the attendance activity?
There is no attendence activity in the 'add an activity' block in my moodle. That means the installation must be missing.
Your reply would be highly appreciated.
You need to add the attforblock folder to your mod folder in your moodle install. Then check that permissions are correct. Then when you go to your admin page in Moodle it should prompt you to install the module.
I had posted my concern on another thread too, but I will use this one. I have the attforblock folder in my mod folder with the correct permission and I installed the module from the admin page too. But I just find the attendance module being added only to the Activities section but not to the 'Blocks'. Am I missing something? any help is appreciated.
That is correct, you have only installed the activity. There is a separate block also found in Aartem's github which is called attendance - this folder gets copied to your blocks folder and will then create the block.
Thanks Emma, that helped I got the block from his github and exploded it under my blocks dir.
Thank you so much Emma for your reply. While reading the tread of conversations, you seem to be the only person who has expert knowledge about this moodle. I am completely new and I need some help.
Could you possibly send the link where I can find the step-by-step procedure how to add the attforblock folder to my mod folder in my moodle install? I didn't install it myself; someone did it for me and when I asked him to install attendance activity, he could not do it despite his numerous effort and, finally, he gave it up. Now I am researching myself.
I even do not know where the mod folder is. But I am determined to find it and do it myself getting the help from the experts like you. Could you help me please?
I am presuming that you have access to the server where moodle is installed - if not, you will have to find the person that does.
The mod and blocks folders are found inside the moodle folder that is in your web directory. On linux it is found under /var/www/. Not sure on Windows but guessing in inet folder maybe. There are instructions here:
Also look at the instructions for installing blocks and modules found on this page.
Thank you so much Emma. Skills, knowledge and experience are magic, actually. I was frantically looking for someone to help me in this regard ever since an IT guy who installed it in my server finally gave up to install the attendance module after his numerous attempts in vain. Your few words did the magic and the problems solved. Your help highly appreciated.
I also needed some help regarding installing free plegiarism checker softwares and instructions for installing. I read in some webpages that viper is a free software. How reliable is it? Is it as good as turnitin? Which anti-pleagiarism softwares are free? And more importantly, the instructions to install them.
I am so glad I was able to help. Now that you have got the Attendance module, you should have little problem installing other modules/blocks. They all pretty much install in the same way.
Unfortunately, I have not used any of the plagiarism checkers so have no advice for you there. I see that you posted the question in another thread too so hopefully someone will be able to help you out on that.
