I'm getting this request from some of the teachers at our faculty: I would appreciate a function 'scrolling halt' (implemented maybe as simply stopping to refresh the chat message frame).
Model situation: Some students read faster than others. If a (long, important) message requires confirmation on the part of the students that they understood the message, those who are quick readers can scroll the given post out of sight with their responses for those who are not so fast in reading.
I should perhaps note that these teachers use the chat module quite extensively, with large numbers of (hard of hearing) students, and often submitting rather long messages (upon their request I modified the chat input frame to take multiple-paragraph messages and associated a quick access key with the Submit button.)
I spent quite some time today playing around with the chat window and with the proposed idea of "refresh halt" but without much success.
I would be grateful for any suggestions. TIA.
