Using the database tool to hold work for teachers who will be/are absent

Getting work from teachers who are away to the teacher who will be supervising their class/es can be difficult, especially first thing in the morning.

We have created a course for the Academic Administrator on our My Subjects (Moodle) page aand used the database to create a virtual form that teachers can complete from their sick-bed (or hand in  before a planned absence)

Once the supervising teacher has been allocated to take the class they simply find the work on the database using their teacher computer.

The absent teacher can see who took the class and also any comments they left.

Then they delete the entry.

The system seems to be working quite well, and we have eliminated all the pieces of paper that used to be involved.

Attached is a copy of a 'Virtual Yellow Slip'

Maybe someone else will find this useful.

Hi Sally - it would be really helpful if you could add this to the "database of databases" on the Moodle course exchange here so others can benefit - I like the idea very much
