Very odd problem with editing the introductory block

I have a teacher who has sent me a very strange problem, in non-editing mode and in student mode the content in the top/introductory block is all centered, for example all the activities/resources links in the intro block are centered

The second strange thing is that in editing mode the activities/resources links are not centered, however the editing "hand" is centered and is inactive, i.e. cannot be clicked on, so there is no way to activate the html editor for the introductory block

does any of this sound familiar? any idea on how to fix this?

Has your teacher copied and pasterd the information in this top introductory block from somewhere else? If the hand is inactive it sounds like some code has got into it and corrupted it such that it won't work. Take a look at this forum post of the other day and try the suggestions there in order to get your hand back:
