Widgets in Moodle

Been wondering how to spice up our Moodle install with something new - and wondered what widgets has anyone else been using.

Has anyone found something really worthwhile that is already out there, created their own or just thought of a good idea, but not implemented it yet?

Hello,

I follow the lounge but I never try to respond...but today I want to begin.

I apologize for my english, I'm french.

In my moodle space, I use lot of things to try to make nice, to boost the interface, like :

=>insert by embed a slideshow (slide.com)

=>insert bd and comic strip

=>insert funny title (like this, this, this)

=>insert cloud words and tags like wordle. You just have to do copy/cut and insert image.

=>insert poster like gloster (embed) like this.

=>insert interactive book by embed (calaméo or isuu) like here.

Perhaps, this space and this space (inscription needed) show you some ideas and inspirations.

It depends if you wants a really pedagogical goals or just funny goals and interests.

Emilie

Emilie, your comments are most welcome. If you write in French, we can use a Google translator to understand you. No problem.

The "widgets" are fun to use; and I find that services like ISSUU are wonderful. Never lose sight of the learning.

At the moment, I am looking for an interactive Wordle: one that changes as the text changes. This would be great for RSS feed summaries.

I think you should be able to create a real-time Wordle at Many Eyes Wikified:

It does visualize real-time numeric data, but I have not specifically tried the Wordle visualization on live data yet.  Please let us know if this works.

Thanks for that Thomas - I speared off on a journey of discovery into data visualisation. However, the solution to an automated word cloud is close at hand:

Trouble is I can't get it to work on my sites - it throws up only a few words! However, it's a start . . .
