Your comments and suggestions are always welcome Jon, but the underlying idea I have is that we need to separate Server from stand alone installs completely. I suggest it is important that there be a clear distinction between production installs and stand alone installs.
I don't know enough about server environments to suggest that each server be dealt with differently or in the same documents but I have been led to advancing this discussion by the lack of clarity and differentiation in the Stand Alone installs. With the addition of a WIMP package, this is a further complication. I suspect each install should appear to be independent of every other Windows install.
What does not help of course is the "Standard Moodle Packages" and "Moodle For Windows" pages, (that is a discussion already cut short once) and there should be some very clear links there as to what is what and instruction sets for each install. It does not matter that the only thing really different is the Xampp-lite package from the Standard Install - and maybe a WIMP package - as long as the links and instructions are clear, everything is fine.
