I've been using glossary terms in the questions to do my categorization. For example R.1 means reading standard one. The R.1 is in the glossary.

Categorizing questions in the quiz/lesson modules would make moodle a real contender in the multi-million dollar database war that is now going on with the big publishers. My district spent nearly $1M for access to a dbase of categorized and displaying individual questions... there's real value in categorizing questions.

When I administer a large test I want to see how students do by categories R1, R2.6, R 3.1 etc. with a break down of errors percentage by category so I know better what to reteach.

I've got a hunch that my district is building its own set of questions for resale on the market.

The lesson module in 1.5 (cvs) sounds very interesting though I'm uncertain about the stability... so I wait, I can't afford the production environment failing.
