Need Help With Grades

Here is the situation.  We need a place to enter FINAL GRADES (in letter form A-F) for each student in each course.

Prior to switching to Moodle, we were using a product called JICS which feeds student, course and faculty data into our school-wide database.  We are using Moodle in a similar way in that our course, student and faculty data is generated from and feeds into this same database.

When faculty are using the gradebook they are able to enter grades and get COURSE TOTALS for students but this will not feed into our database because Moodle is based on a points system.

What we need is a separate field, called FINAL GRADE, which is in letter grade form in which faculty can enter a student's course total.  This FINAL GRADE field will then feed into our database.

Does Moodle do anything like that?  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Has anyone had any similar experience?

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!

Hi Jenna,

Absolutely. You can create a manual grade item in your course and have it display grades in the form of Letters.

From within your gradebook, click on the 'Full View' in the top left from the drop-down list and then click on the 'Add Grade Item' button. You can then setup your grade item the way you want it.

I am pretty sure this should work for you smile

Thanks.
