When I have a user assigned as a Course Creator for a Category they can create courses and are automatically associated as a Teacher to that course.
Check the Administration ► Users ► Permissions ► User policies setting for 'Creators' role in new courses', this should say 'Teacher'
I checked the setting yes it is default to "teacher"
As the course is not created by the Course creater, the couse is created by Admin, I assigned the guy as a Course creater of the course, but he cannot do anything non enrolled in the course, (I guess the fact is because the course is not created by the course creater), but its meaningless to assign a course creater to a course that is not created by him, unless the course create can edit the course....it messed me up...
I'm far from being a roles expert, but it seems to me that a "course creator" is a kind of "sub admin" and that the useful place to assign them is at "category" level. Then they can create (and maybe also teach) courses in that category and so relieve the admin of some of the chore of creating courses. I don't necessarily make "course creators" automatic teachers in the courses they create.
Hi - I hope this is in the correct place.
I am course creator for the site but I also appear to be a teacher on all the courses and I really don't want to be.
What do I need to change to prevent this?
....and can I change all 700+ courses at once?
Presumably you have been assigned the role globally? via site admin>users>permissions>assign system roles? Course creators are meant to automatically be assigned the role of teacher in the courses they create - on the other hand take a look to see if you haven't been assigned the role of teacher globally too, via the same path as before?
Hi Mary, I'm still stumped by this - the teacher role is not assigned globally.
Also why is the teacher role assigned to the course creator automatically? This makes little sense in management terms.
