Trying to get a feel for how teachers tend to use Moodle, and I have one question...
Many things go into a lesson, but if you're creating explanatory content -- showing students a particular process step-by-step, say -- do you tend to create the content using a Moodle resource or other module, or is your preference to create the material in Word, PowerPoint, or some other software, then upload it to Moodle?
Seems to me that for a new course, the "full Moodle" method works best, but if I'm reusing material that I've used before (outside of Moodle), the second method is better.
Can only speak for myself and I would say that I would use the Lesson Module to show step by step process and that even if I had alreayd used materials outside of Moodle I would avoid uploading those Word/ppt etc as students would just have to clickon them to open/download whereas if the explanatory content is done directly on Moodle it is much easier for them to access.
I too avoid doc/ppt/pdf etc. and convert existing materials in these formats to web pages. I prefer the Book module over a web page or link resource. I add to activities links to particular chapters (pages) of the book(s) to allow students convenient access to content when and where they need it.
