People logging-in need to know who is tutor and who is student while online.
How can i show the role of the online user near his online user icon.

You can go to Site Adminsitration>Apperance>Course Contacts> This setting allows you to control who appears on the course description. Users need to have at least one of these roles in a course to be shown on the course description for that course.
