Is there any way to make facetoface activities compatible with grouping restrictions? Allowing only selected grouping members to access facetoface activities?

I am too having trouble with this. I remember getting this to work previously in Moodle 2.0 but since upgraded to Moodle 2.2 the show advanced in common module setting button is missing. Any ideas?
