Is this your Moodle site, or is it a joint one with the other school? Did you allow them to be teachers or students in your courses and now want to change that? "Areas" and "Access" is a little vague for a context. Do you mean course categories, or courses or sections within a course, see only or hide completely?

This sort of thing is discussed a lot in Business Uses of Moodle course.

If it is your site and you are being friendly, then create a new role for them. Copy the guest role and start from there smile Sounds like it is OK if they view your course titles but not get into the course. You can get granular with roles and course overrides.

Make sure you have manual enrollment or an enrolment key as Mary suggested for your students. Problem with keys is that they can be shared. Problem with manual enrollment is somebody has to do it.

Once you open the door it is hard to change the rules in a friendly manner. I would give them a few, non sensitive courses to look at or borrow some of the "Cool Moodle" courses or Features Demo course for your site smile
